P2E RPG Covenant Child’s Development Project Manager gives insight on the Blockchain Gaming Industry, problems it faces, and how Covenant Child will remedy those issues.
In the Blockchain Gaming Industry, developers are constantly innovating to take advantage of the amazing potential that the industry presents.
Award-winning, P2E strategic RPG Covenant Child is one of those innovations that is expected to solve major issues in the Blockchain Gaming industry. Brian Oh, the Project Manager for the upcoming game, spoke upon the subject early this week.
“Why the Blockchain Gaming industry is so amazing is because gamers outside of professional live streamers and competitive scenes are finally earning tangible assets for their efforts invested in games. That being said, there are still inherent problems in this relatively new industry,” stated Brian. “The biggest issue that we’re seeing is a lack of depth of gameplay with a lot of the P2E games out there.”
Due to all of the excitement behind crypto-gaming, development teams are focusing more on their Tokens, rather than the game experience.
“The irony of this industry is that when developers put too much focus on the Token and not enough on the game, instability arises with both the value of the token and the interest of the player base.”
Which begs the question, what should come first: the Token or the Game?
Brain Oh suggested that rather than just one being more important than the other, P2E game developers should be focused on how they balance and interact with one another.
“The ultimate goal for a Blockchain P2E game is to have a perfect balance between Gameplay and GameFi – essentially to make the game tokens feel like in-game currencies. And in that, the game must also feel like a real, full game that will keep players interested for a long time,” stated Brian. “I am under the philosophy that if you have a good, well-developed game, then in turn you will have a highly-valued token for a very long time.”
How Covenant Child Solves these Problems:
Covenant Child checks all of the requirements off for being the ‘ultimate P2E experience’.
Deep Content
The game has been under development since even before Blockchain Gaming became popular in 2019. It differs from other P2E games in that it is a full story-based RPG with early, middle and end game content that will be gradually released over the course of the next two years. In this, players will be able to earn through the entire Covenant Child experience building up to the inevitable establishment of a full decentralized governance, and once that happens, the players will be able to participate in ecosystem policy voting and development direction of the game itself.
Well Designed Token Economics
The game’s token economics with its COVN governance token and ‘Child’ utility token has been designed specifically to make the tokens feel like in-game currencies with real-world value.
What separates COVN from other P2E games is its flexibility of Acquisition and Usage. Many P2E games tend to have players only use their Governance tokens during staking and PvP, however COVN, on the other hand, is very closely related to Covenant Child’s gameplay. Essentially all in-game assets earned in the game are able to be issued as NFTs and sold to other players on their self-developed NFT Marketplace, and one of the primary items earned through completing activities in Covenant Child can be converted directly to the COVN governance token. So players who play from launch will be consistently earning, and according to Covenant Child’s roadmap, players will be earning through constant content updates and releases over the next two years.
“We want to reward our players for the time and effort they put into Covenant Child, and to prove that, we’ve developed the game to be completely Free-to-Play accessible. I am confident that Covenant Child will be the perfect P2E game that will help remedy industry issues and lead the way for the future of Blockchain gaming,” said Brian.
